Acumenta Adds Support for Agilent Microarray Chips,
Enabling Automated Processing by Literature Lab™

Boston, MA – April 8, 2008: Acumenta Corporation (www.acumenta.com) announces support for prominent Agilent microarray products, including: the Dual Mode Gene Expression products: Whole Human Genome, Whole Mouse Genome, Whole Rat Genome and Monkey Genome and the Oligo aCGH Human, Mouse and Rat microarrays.

With the addition of these Agilent products, Acumenta's Literature Lab™ literature mining platform will accept direct input of Agilent data.  Agilent probe ID's are directly mapped into the Acumenta Gene Thesaurus™ assuring precise and comprehensive analysis of scientific literature by Literature Lab™.

Literature Lab™ is a literature mining application for scientists in academic/research institutions and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.  It performs literature-based gene set enrichment and facilitates advanced literature review for scientists researching new disease therapies.  Literature Lab™ simplifies understanding of underlying biology associated with experimentally derived gene sets and is an advancement over single-gene analysis tools.

“By simplifying advanced literature mining, Literature Lab™ is a significant addition to the repertoire of new tools becoming available that help scientists accelerate drug discovery,” said Paul R. Martinez, Acumenta's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “Literature Lab™ currently mines over 9.2 million PubMed abstracts to help scientists infer biology from microarray data and other gene lists of interest.”

Founded in 2001, Acumenta Corporation is based in Boston, Massachusetts.  Acumenta is a software and information company serving biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms and non-profit research organizations.  Acumenta builds applications on the Acumenta platform that automate information gathering, analysis and management tasks associated with Web-based and proprietary external and internal databases.  Acumenta's curated Thesaurus of Gene and Protein Nomenclature and software products improve both the efficiency and quality of research in the life sciences R&D function.
