Emory Biomarker Service Center
Licenses Acumenta Literature Lab™

Boston, MA – September 29, 2010: The Emory Biomarker Service Center at the Winship Cancer Institute has licensed Acumenta Corporation’s Literature Lab™ to accelerate the understanding of biology associated with experimentally derived gene lists.

Literature Lab™ is a literature mining software application that performs a statistical analysis on the scientific literature as it relates to experimentally derived gene sets.  It uniquely solves two major challenges shared by virtually all investigators engaged in microarray analysis and other genomic experimentation:

  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the biological implications of process data.
  • Keeping up to date with scientific literature, and using it to accelerate their research..

“Literature Lab™ provides our investigators with a unique tool to comprehensively mine the literature and obtain statistically quantifiable results on association of pathways with gene expression datasets.” said Carlos S. Moreno, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pathology and Co-Director of the Emory Biomarker Service Center. “It can sometimes generate unexpected and important insights into their data.”

“Literature Lab™ efficiently delivers valuable answers mined from the vast repository of scientific literature.” said Stephen C. Taylor, Acumenta's CEO.  “It analyzes over 11 million scientific journal abstracts to paint a biological picture of the results of microarray or NGS experiment results.”

“New technologies available to research laboratories generate more data and higher levels of precision, but the challenge remains to make sense of the data and quickly get on to next steps in the Laboratory.” said Paul Martinez, Acumenta's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “Literature Lab™ plays an important part in delivering the return on these investments.”

Literature Lab™ analyses are provided by Acumenta as a service or as a turn-key software application.
