Rutgers University Cell and DNA Repository (RUCDR)
and Bionomics Research and Technology Center (BRTC)
Licenses Acumenta Literature Lab™
Boston, MA – January 18, 2012: The Rutgers University Cell and DNA Repository (RUCDR) and Bionomics Research
and Technology Center (BRTC) has licensed Acumenta Corporation’s Literature Lab™ to accelerate the understanding of complex
disease associated with functional genetic/genomic analyses. The programs will use Literature Lab™ to better understand
the biological context and molecular underpinnings of a variety of disease states across several NIH grants and contracts.
Literature Lab™ performs a statistical analysis on the scientific literature as it relates to experimentally derived gene sets.
It uniquely solves two major challenges shared by investigators doing microarray analysis and other genomic experimentation:
- Helping scientists understand the biological meaning of large heterogeneous gene sets.
- Keeping up to date with scientific literature, and using it to accelerate their research..
“Literature Lab™ is an intuitive software tool that puts powerful analyses into the hands of investigators with varying
levels of expertise.” said Andrew I. Brooks, Ph.D, Associate Professor and Chief Operating Officer of the Rutgers University Cell
and DNA Repository, Rutgers University Department of Genetics. “It will become an important part of our bioinformatics workflow and
serve both individual investigators experiments as well as become a central resource for collaborative projects.”
“Literature Lab™ analyzes the vast repository of scientific literature and delivers a deep biological analysis of microarray
or NGS data.” said Stephen C. Taylor, Acumenta's CEO. “Our recent addition of Clustering Analysis to Literature Lab™
identifies functional relationships among the genes in the data set. Literature Lab™ clusters are interactive, enabling quick
review of the underlying data.”
“New technologies available to research laboratories generate more data and higher levels of precision, but they present a new challenge -
to make sense of the data and quickly move on to next steps in the Laboratory.” said Paul Martinez, Acumenta's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“Literature Lab™ plays an important part in helping Investigators quickly understand the biological meaning of their gene sets.”
